HP Envy, dv8 Quad, Mini 311, and numerous other Windows 7 machines now available to order

Source: http://www.engadget.com/2009/10/18/hp-envy-dv8-quad-mini-311-and-numerous-other-windows-7-machin/

Since today really needs a good heap of news to somewhat balance out yesterday's glut, HP has updated its online store to give it an abundance of new and revised Windows 7 machines, including the Envy series (Beats edition and all), Pavilion dm3 with AMD Neo or Intel CULV chips, Core i7-packing dv6t/ dv7t / dv8t Quad editions, and the not-so-netbook CQ61. We're still not seeing the previously-leaked dm1 ultraportable anywhere, but the Mini 311 and a slightly updated Mini 110 are, with the option to jump from Windows XP to 7 for a cool $50 / $30 respectively. Most everything in the store, desktops and laptops, has been updated to at least include Windows 7 as the standard shipping OS, and while all claim free 2-day shipping, estimated shipping dates begin sometime the week after 7's Oct 22nd launch -- no early chances here, folks. Browse the read links and keep an eye on the shiny red "new" icons (no flashing GIFs, we're afraid) for the entire revised lineup.

Update: As a number of you have pointed, the Envy product page is a bit, well, sloppy. Typos and missing commas notwithstanding, it seems to biggest laugh is the cost of customization, i.e. $800 more to downgrade from a 500GB HDD to 320GB or 250GB (same price), or $900 more to downgrade from 6GB or 4GB of DDR3 memory. Yeah, it might be best to hold off on that one until HP get the kinks worked out.

[Thanks to everyone who sent this in!]

Source: http://feeds.gawker.com/~r/gizmodo/full/~3/s121CyAld6E/acer-aspirerevo-upgraded-windows-7-ion-graphics-dual+core-atom-cpu

Acer's funky book-sized AspireRevo nettop just got a little better…and a touch pricier. This R3610-U9012 model has Windows 7, a dual-core Atom 330 processor, double the RAM (2GB), and full Ion graphics. It also keeps support for 1080p HDMI output.

Other specs remain identical to the Windows XP, 1GB RAM, Atom 230 model that costs about $200 bucks. Each has 802.11n Wi-Fi, and has a VESA attachment for mounting on the back of your flat panel monitor or TV.

The $330 AspireRevo (R3610-U9012) is new, but should already been up for grabs over at: [Acer]

• Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium
• Intel Atom 330 Processor (1.6GHz)
• Integrated NVIDIA® ION Graphics Solution
• 2GB DDR2 SDRAM Memory
• 160GB SATA Hard Drive
• Six USB 2.0 Ports (Two Front, Four Back)
• HDMI Port

• VGA Port
• Multi-in-1 Digital Media Card Reader
• 802.11b/g/Draft-N Wireless
• Gigabit Ethernet

FPS hopelessly leaps into pocket projector game with Pearl M3

Source: http://www.engadget.com/2009/10/16/fps-hopelessly-leaps-into-pocket-projector-game-with-pearl-m3/

The world needs another VGA pico projector about like it needs another ton of plastic goop swirling in the Pacific, but thanks to FPS, that's exactly what we're getting. (The former, just so we're clear.) The LCoS-based beamer puts out an image between 5- and 66-inches and packs a native resolution of 640 x 360; there's a composite input, stereo output, USB socket and a microSD expansion slot. You'll also find a one-watt internal speaker and a 2,500mAh battery for projecting on the go, while most every file format you can think of is supported. If, for whatever reason, you've found yourself overcome with want (and you can't hold off for Microvision's laser-based SHOW WX), it's available to purchase right now for $219.

Acer Liquid slips through human fingers, but not before divulging new specs (updated)

Source: http://www.engadget.com/2009/10/16/acer-liquid-slips-through-human-fingers-but-not-before-taking-p/

Generic form factor? Check. Default Android skin? Check. Sure, that's nothing exciting, but the real draw of Acer Liquid's gonna be its large, 800 x 480 resolution screen (the exact size of which we still don't know) and its 1GHz Snapdragon chipset. Unfortunately for the guys at Pocket-Lint, they didn't get to play with the Donut-powered handset long enough to really push those two selling points, but on the bright side they did discover a 5 megapixel camera with autofocus and some ISO adjustment options, GPS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and what appears to be a 3.5mm headphone jack. Perhaps more importantly, they nabbed some pictures of the thing powered on and in action. Jealous? Yes, yes we are.

Update: We finally have the first images (above) showing Acer's customized Android UI and social networking integration (after the break) courtesy of HDBlog.it. It not quite the full-blown replacement a la HTC Sense, but they've clearly brought a new bag of tricks in an attempt to make the vanilla OS experience Acer-unique.

[Thanks, Josh]
