Lenovo slaps Windows 7 onto ThinkPad SL410 and SL510

Lenovo's ThinkPad SL410 and SL510 managed to sneak out a touch early overseas, but now the outfit is making 'em both official here in the States -- and on the day before the launch of Windows 7, no less. Unfortunately, detailed specifications are nowhere to be found, with Lenovo simply telling us that these will boast 16:9 displays, Core 2 Duo processors, HDMI and VGA outputs, a multitouch trackpad, 3G WWAN, WiFi, Ethernet, optional Bluetooth and Windows 7 runnin' the show. Both rigs can supposedly be ordered today starting at $529, so we guess it's on you to poke around and see if either suit your fancy. Full specs lists is after the break.

Google Audio music service launching soon? (update: seems it!)

So TechCrunch has it from multiple sources that a US (at least) music service launch from Google is imminent. Possibly named Google Audio, it's unclear whether the service will stream music from the major labels and/or offer it as downloadable tracks. Scuttlebutt says that the service will differ from Google's free, search and download music offering available in China since 2008. Now go ahead, kick back and imagine a Google music service tightly integrated with Android while we dig for more details.

Update: Looks like Google's planning to dive on in with iLike and LaLa, and the whole shindig may end up being called One Box.

Viewsonic debuts new range of ViewBooks, ViewBook Pros

Viewsonic's already announced a few new laptops in advance of that little Windows 7 launch, but it looks like it's saved its biggest guns for the last minute, with it now introducing a whole range of new models in Taipei. The stand-out of the lot is the company's new ViewBook Pro (pictured above), which packs a 13.3-inch display, low-power Core 2 Duo processor, and a fairly unique interchangeable optical drive / second battery into a slim aluminum enclosure. Rounding out the lot are the ViewBook 120, 130 and 140, which expectedly boast 12-inch, 13.3-inch and 14-inch screens, respectively, and some low-end to mid-range specs across the board (think Celeron or Core 2 Duo, 2GB of RAM, and a 250GB or 320GB hard drive). Still no word on a release over here, but it looks like the ViewBook Pro will set you back $999 or $1,099 depending on the configuration, with most of the rest running well under the $1,000 mark. Our dear colleagues over at Engadget German have had a chance to play with RIM's just-announced BlackBerry Bold 9700 today, and every indication we've gotten is that this thing is a perfect -- if not extremely conservative -- successor to the first-generation Bold. Interface and network speed are both praised (both the 9700 and the Bold before it feature a 624MHz core, so there's some magic going on here) and the microSD card is now hot-swappable, meaning that you've got a theoretically limitless supply of storage space if you happen to be carrying around a pocketful of 16GB cards. HP unleashes Compaq L2105tm touchscreen, multitouch monitor

HP's just rather quietly announced a new display hot on the heels of tomorrow's Windows 7 launch. This 21.5-inch, 1080p bad boy boasts an optical multitouch panel with one finger scrolling and two finger mousing capabilities. Stylus fans will also be overjoyed to hear that the Compaq L2105tm has a stylus of its own that tucks into the side of the monitor when not in use. HP is calling this one the first "Windows 7 certified" monitor, meaning you should be able to pull it right out of the box, plug it in and get moving. The Compaq L2105tm will be available tomorrow for $299. Full press release is after the break.
